Our mattress and pillow top covers are treated with a special neem oil process to help inhibit dust mite proliferation. Since most dust mites live in sloughed off skin cells, and your mattress cover receives most of those cells, the cover fabric is often the ideal place for dust mites to live.
What’s neem oil?
Taken from the seeds of the neem tree, this organic oil is quite versatile. It’s used as insect repellent, in soaps and shampoo to clean, as an antiseptic, in skin lotions to retain moisture, and for its healing properties in herbal medicines. We use it as an anti-allergen.
Neem oil is completely safe for humans and animals. It’s part of the “green movement” of environmentally safe products. (Do an Internet search on neem oil. You’ll be amazed at all the web sites and how active this industry is.)
How it works
The principle ingredient in neem oil is azadirachtin. It acts as an insect growth regulator. In our cotton covers, bioneem prevents dust mites from developing and thriving; therefore, it impedes the growth of one of the worst culprits in allergies and breathing problems.
